Like any agricultural project, our project is built with long term objectives. It has been incepted on Fair Trade principles, from our partners to our employees to benefit our rural community. We work with international importers and distributors who share our values. Together, we are committed to offering the freshest spices at the fairest price, for the producer and the consumer.
We employ more than 150 people full time. During the 6-month harvest, we employ up to 150 additional people. We have become the biggest employer in this rural region and thus allow the villagers to receive a monthly salary while remaining in their family environment, keystone of Cambodian society. Our chefs cook three meals a day for them, some of them live at the farm in modern accommodation rooms. They all benefit from medical coverage and regularly undergo training to develop their skills. It is our social commitment to improving the living conditions of our employees and their families, with more than 1,000 beneficiaries.
A strong social and societal responsibility in the Kampot region
We offer good working conditions to our employees and train them to develop their skills. We help independent farmers improve their quality of life.
We do take care of our environment with sustainable agricultural production methods such as organic farming, permaculture and crop rotation. La Plantation has been Certified Organic by Ecocert France since 2016.
Our environmental project also includes reforestation with the planting of thousands of trees, and waste management (recycling and composting). In the rainy season, we ensure our self-sufficiency in water for the upcoming dry season by collecting rainwater in water ponds we dug in the property.
The energy comes from a solar panel farm and from an electric line that we recently funded.
Building futures also means making our children grow up by providing them with a good quality education
Les écoles de la Plantation’s 1st Mission is to offer a great primary education to the children from our village. However, our End Goal is to send them to a successful secondary education, through high school and university, towards a sustainable profession.
