Through this project, we want to extend the impact on the economic development of the region. Initially, our action focused on the employment by La Plantation of a team of permanent farmers and seasonal workers during the harvest period. Since 2019, La Plantation has been working alongside small farmers in the Kampot Pepper appellation to promote and market their production. They are members of the KPPA association and follow the rules of the PGI book of specifications.
We have selected them for the quality of their products and their expertise in pepper cultivation for several generations. We guarantee the purchase of their production at a fair price, helping to improve their living conditions and maintaining their production.
In 2019, more than 25 families benefited from La Plantation's Small Farmers program. The aim is to strengthen our program every year in the Kampot region as well as in other rural regions of Cambodia.
This « Small Farmers supported by La Plantation » program is an integral part of our WFTO fair trade certification (World Faire Trade Organization)
Fair trade certification, a recognition of our daily commitment
Fair Trade certification highlights the values of La Plantation since its inception, which are listed below as fair-trade principles defined by World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and regularly audited by their inspectors:
A commitment to fair trade
Good working conditions
No discrimination in access to employment
Respect for the cultural identity of the producers
A commitment to education
The WFTO fair trade certification is the successful achievement of our social program, initiated in 2013. This program will be reinforced in the coming years.
